NEC Discontinues The DSX Series And Replaces It With The New SL1100 Digital and IP Telephone System
I felt like I was punched in the stomach when they announced the discontinuation of the NEC DSX 40, DSX80 and the NEC DSX160. The darling of the installers choice system. The DSX was the replacement for the DS 1000 and the DS 2000. The boards for the DS were back compatible so you could take them out of a dead DS, install them in a new DSX cabinet and be back up and running with just a little programming.
The NEC SL1100 has earned it place in my heart.
NEC SL1100
The SL1100 had a tough road following in the shadow of its predecessor, but, it certainly has grown on me and has become one of my all time favorite systems. Not just because its an NEC which always spells quality. It has had to earn its place in my heart right next to the DSX by being reliable, expandable and feature rich. The only repair call I've received so far for the SL1100 has been a system that a couple guys tried to install and botched because they were defiantly Panasonic Techs not familiar with NEC. Many Panasonic's are 2 pair systems where the NEC has been a 1 pair system for a very long time. Good for me , bad for them, even worse for my client who paid them to NOT be able to install his new system.
